COVID DDIs

In response to a growing number of queries, the University of Liverpool has put together a summary of likely drug interactions with experimental COVID therapies. (Remdesivir completed but awaiting authorisation to use proprietary data).

Continued updates will be posted, site is on http://www.covid19-druginteractions.org/

We would be grateful if you could cascade this amongst your national networks.

Special thanks to Fiona Marra and Alison Boyle (Glasgow) and Catia Marzolini (Basel) who have compiled the evidence.

Message from the President

Dear EACS members,

Happy New Year!

2020 marks a very special year with regard to HIV. In December 2013, the UNAIDS Program Coordinating Board called on UNAIDS to support country- and region-led efforts to establish new targets for HIV treatment scale-up beyond 2015. The ambitious 90-90-90 target was defined which aimed at having 90% of all people living with HIV knowing their HIV status by 2020. Moreover, by 2020, 90% of all people with diagnosed HIV infection should receive sustained antiretroviral therapy and of those 90% should have viral suppression. Although these ambitious targets have been met by some countries, such as Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, there remain huge gaps particularly in Eastern and Central Europe.

World AIDS Day 2019 - Message from the President and President-elect

However, although HIV-related infections have been reduced by 47% worldwide between 1996 and 2017, there is a continuous increase of HIV infections in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

European Testing Week

European Testing Week was launched by the EuroTEST initiative (formerly known as HIV in Europe) in 2013 to encourage increased testing efforts and promote awareness of the benefits of earlier testing and linkage to care. The theme for the November 2019 ETW emphasises the importance of integrated testing and other related activities focused on increasing awareness and access to testing and treatment of HIV, viral hepatitis and sexually transmitted infections.
